The "Korea Reading Management Excellent Workplace Certification Program" is a system that selects and certifies organizations that have contributed to the spread of reading culture by creating a reading-friendly environment in the workplace and operating reading programs. It has been implemented annually since 2014. This year, a total of 277 organizations nationwide received certification.
Last year, Pocheon City established the vision of "Pocheon, a Humanistic City Growing with Books" and officially introduced reading management, earning its first certification. This year, the city strengthened its existing programs and firmly established reading management by enhancing initiatives such as the delivery service for desired books for public officials, reading activation training for civil servants, the installation of a recommended books information desk in the new city hall, the operation of workplace reading clubs, and a book summary service.
In particular, Mayor Baek Younghyeon of Pocheon personally selected and introduced books he wished to read with employees each month and launched the "Book of the Month Recommendation" program, where reading impressions are shared, thereby leading the spread of reading culture within the organization. The city's strong commitment to reading management and the voluntary participation of public officials resulted in the achievement of certification for two consecutive years.
Mayor Baek Younghyeon stated, "We will continue to foster an organizational culture that communicates and grows through books," and added, "I will do my best to ensure that these efforts lead to the development of Pocheon City."
