Hyundai Motor Group is partnering with UK-based artificial intelligence (AI) startup Cusp AI to develop materials that will drive innovation in mobility solutions.

On November 6 (local time), Hyundai Motor Group announced that it had signed a strategic partnership with Cusp AI for collaboration in material AI at Cusp AI’s headquarters in Cambridge, UK. The event was attended by Cheol Park, Head of New Business Strategy Office at Hyundai Motor Group, Chad Edwards, CEO of Cusp AI, Max Welling, CTO of Cusp AI, and other executives from both companies.

Cusp AI is a Cambridge-based startup that aims to streamline the material development process and rapidly identify purpose-optimized materials by leveraging advanced generative AI, deep learning, and molecular simulation technologies.

Through this partnership, Hyundai Motor Group aims to enhance the efficiency, durability, and stability of materials, as well as to discover a diverse range of new materials, thereby revolutionizing its mobility solutions.

In particular, with the emergence of a new research paradigm known as “AI for Science” across various industries, Hyundai Motor Group plans to strengthen its AI capabilities through this partnership and boost its research and development outcomes.
