Samsung E&A Launches Green Hydrogen Production Solution "Compass H2-P," Accelerates Global Hydrogen Market Expansion

New Technology Unveiled at "ADIPEC 2025" in the UAE on the 5th
Equipped with Both Alkaline and PEM Electrolysis Solutions
Accelerating New Eco-Friendly Energy Transition Businesses

Samsung E&A announced on the 6th that it unveiled its green hydrogen production solution, "Compass H2-P," at "ADIPEC 2025" held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the 5th, signaling a full-scale entry into the global hydrogen market.

"Compass H2-P" is the industry's first 100 MW-scale green hydrogen production solution based on proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysis. It is the successor to "Compass H2-A," which is based on alkaline electrolysis (AEC) and was unveiled last May. "Compass H2-P" is capable of producing high-pressure (30 barg), high-purity (99.9995%) hydrogen and has reduced plant site area by effectively arranging the electrolyzer stack and auxiliary facilities.

With this launch, Samsung E&A and Nel have secured both the world's most efficient alkaline electrolysis solution and a PEM solution that is advantageous for responding to load fluctuations in renewable power, enabling them to provide customized solutions for clients and projects.

"Compass H2" offers all phases from pre-feasibility studies for plant construction to engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) as well as quality assurance. Samsung E&A plans to actively target the green hydrogen market with its differentiated competitiveness, which guarantees not only electrolysis equipment and plant construction but also integrated performance.

In addition, at this year's ADIPEC, the company introduced collaborative cases with global partners, such as the sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) solution being developed with Jidara, Johnson Matthey, and Honeywell UOP, and explored new business opportunities.

Samsung E&A is accelerating new businesses for eco-friendly energy transition, including ammonia, SAF, LNG, and carbon capture. The company has recently achieved tangible results, such as winning orders for a low-carbon ammonia plant in the United States, an SAF plant in Malaysia, a biodegradable plastic plant in the UAE, a basic design contract for an eco-friendly LNG plant in Indonesia, and a conceptual design contract for an LNG project in North America.
