A Total of 350m Circular Barefoot Path Created Amid Barefoot Walking Craze
Improved Amenities Including Foot-Washing Station, Convenience Facilities, and Yellow Soil Ball Acupressure Area
New Restroom Installed at Hoban Gymnasium Entrance to Address Odor Complaints
The renovation project for Seoksa Neighborhood Park in Chuncheon has entered its final stage.
Located at 757 Seoksa-dong, Seoksa Neighborhood Park has been undergoing improvements since July, with a budget of 350 million won allocated for the creation of a barefoot path and the installation of restrooms. As of this date, the project is 90% complete and is scheduled for completion on November 30.
In response to growing community demand for the natural healing benefits of barefoot walking-such as fatigue recovery, immune system enhancement, and stress relief-a total of 350 meters of circular barefoot paths are being created, connecting to the pilot barefoot path established in 2023.
To provide an optimal barefoot walking experience, new facilities such as a foot-washing station and other amenities are being installed, along with a yellow soil ball acupressure area. The ratio of yellow soil used was determined in collaboration with local residents and professional associations.
Additionally, a restroom will be installed at the entrance of Hoban Gymnasium within the park, following repeated complaints from residents regarding unpleasant odors and pests caused by public urination.
A city official stated, "We plan to take the lead in managing the barefoot path so that citizens can practice a healthy lifestyle."
