Siheung City Promotes 'Turtle Island Water and Leisure Sports Free Zone' at 'Regulatory Free Zone Innovation Week'

Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will operate an exhibition booth to promote the 'Siheung Turtle Island Water and Leisure Sports Free Zone' at the '2025 Regulatory Free Zone Innovation Week,' which will be held at the Daejeon DCC Convention Center from November 6 to 7, 2025.

This event, hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and organized by the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology and the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, is a comprehensive gathering focused on three major regional special zones: regulatory free zones, global innovation zones, and regional specialized development zones.

This year, 34 special zone operators from across the country will participate to explore regulatory innovation for regional development and proactive strategies centered on future industries. The event will also feature programs to strengthen on-site communication and cooperation among special zone stakeholders. Outstanding technologies and products from each special zone will also be showcased at the event.

Through this exhibition, the city will introduce the specialized projects of the Siheung Turtle Island Water and Leisure Sports Free Zone, the first of its kind in the country, as well as major ongoing projects within the Turtle Island area. A surfing experience zone will also be available at the venue.

A city official stated, "By participating in this Regulatory Free Zone Innovation Week, we aim to promote the growth potential and future vision of Turtle Island nationwide," adding, "We will continue to do our best to ensure the sustainable development of specialized projects and to foster a marine leisure industry ecosystem through public-private cooperation."
