The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Myunggi, Governor of Hoengseong County, Hwang Heedong, Head of the Hongcheon-Chuncheon Branch of the Korea Rural Community Corporation, and other officials from both organizations. Under the project implementation guidelines, the agreement entrusts the Hongcheon-Chuncheon Branch with the entire process, from establishing the master plan to the handover after construction completion.
In September of this year, Hoengseong County was selected for the Rural Space Improvement Project (Rural Specialized District Type) conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. The county plans to invest a total project budget of 10 billion won in the Anheung area by 2029.
The Rural Space Improvement Project (Rural Specialized District Type) is designed to foster and support two or more rural specialized districts in a linked manner. In this project, a "Rural Village Protection District" will be designated in the densely populated residential area of Anheung-myeon, while a "Rural Convergence Industry District" will be established in the area where Anheung Steamed Bun (Anheung Jjinppang) shops are concentrated, aiming for mutual development through interconnection.
The Rural Convergence Industry District aims to establish a system for the sustainable development of the so-called "sixth industry"-encompassing production, processing, distribution, and sales-centered on red beans, which are abundantly produced in the region. The project also plans to enhance the brand value of Anheung Steamed Buns by linking the existing Anheung Jjinppang Morakmorak Village and other local resources with tourism and experiential programs.
In addition, in the Rural Village Protection District, the county will construct rental housing for young people and entrepreneurs, as well as community rest areas and parking lots, in connection with the Rural Convergence Industry District. These efforts aim to improve local living conditions and encourage the inflow of younger populations.
Kim Myunggi, Governor of Hoengseong County, stated, "This project will serve as an opportunity to promote the high added value of locally produced red beans and further raise the profile of the region along with Anheung Steamed Buns. We will spare no effort in cooperating closely with the Korea Rural Community Corporation to ensure the successful implementation of the project."
