The Gyeonggi Provincial Government is stepping up its campaign to promote discounts of up to 1,600 won per bill for residents who apply for both electronic tax notifications and automatic payments when paying local taxes.
On November 6, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced that taxpayers who apply for electronic notifications will receive a deduction of 800 won per bill, and those who apply for both electronic notifications and automatic payments will receive a total deduction of 1,600 won per bill. These benefits are applied automatically upon application, allowing residents to enjoy both convenience and tax savings.
To apply for electronic notifications, residents can log in to the Wetax website (wetax.go.kr) and submit an application through the 'Application > Electronic Delivery > Apply for Electronic Delivery' section. For automatic payments, applications can be submitted via the 'Application > Automatic Payment > Apply for Automatic Payment' section. In the case of automatic payments, the benefit is applied one to two months after application, so bills issued in the month of application must be paid separately.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Government expects that expanding the use of electronic notifications will reduce waste, improve administrative efficiency in tax revenue management, and enhance convenience for residents. Reducing paper usage will also help cut carbon emissions, contributing to the public sector’s achievement of the RE100 initiative.
To increase the application rate for electronic notifications, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government will identify and share outstanding cases from cities and counties, expand promotional campaigns, and improve the simplified application system.
Ryu Youngyong, Director of Tax Administration at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, stated, "Electronic notifications provide residents with a convenient tax payment environment while reducing administrative costs and paper usage as part of our eco-friendly policy," adding, "A single change to the tax bill can make a significant contribution to RE100 implementation and carbon reduction."
