The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on November 6 that it will hold the second session of "Art Policy Stories Created Together" at the Multipurpose Hall of the House of Artists in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
"Art Policy Stories Created Together" is an event where the Ministry introduces its ongoing art policies by theme and extensively gathers on-site feedback from the art community.
During this session, the progress and future plans for the "Seogye-dong Complex Cultural Space" project will be shared, and the direction of its operation will be discussed.
The Seogye-dong Complex Cultural Space is a performing arts hub being constructed near Seoul Station by the Ministry, with completion targeted for 2030. The facility will include four performance halls, an exhibition hall, and a library specializing in performing arts.
At the event, architect Park Seokhee from Seogye Cultural Madang, the project implementer, will first present on the spatial composition. This will be followed by a presentation from Cha Mingyeong, a research fellow at the Korea Culture & Tourism Institute, on the results of a study regarding the operation plan for the Seogye-dong Complex Cultural Space. The session will cover the analysis of feedback from performing arts professionals, case studies from Korea and abroad, the vision and roles, the establishment and organization of the operating body, and proposed content composition. Through these discussions, strategies for the professional operation and revitalization of the Seogye-dong Complex Cultural Space will be explored. After the presentations, participants will freely exchange opinions and engage in a Q&A session.
A Ministry policy official stated, "By actively communicating with the field regarding the research on the operation plan for the Seogye-dong Complex Cultural Space, we will create a space that leads the future of performing arts in Korea and becomes an innovative platform for the creation and experimentation of artists."
