Christmas Video "A Magical World Connecting Time" Unveiled on the 7th
All Shinsegae Stores Transformed with Festive Year-End Atmosphere
Shinsegae Department Store announced on the 6th that it will unveil a Christmas video themed "A Magical World Connecting Time" on the giant media facade, Shinsegae Square, on the 7th.
The Shinsegae Christmas media art can be viewed daily from 5 p.m. until midnight. It delivers a message wishing for a year-end filled with happiness for both local citizens and foreign tourists. Shinsegae Square is recognized as a must-visit year-end landmark in Seoul, attracting over one million visitors last year alone.
This Christmas video, which runs for about three minutes, features Poovilla welcoming visitors in a Shinsegae Square adorned with dazzling Christmas decorations. Spectacular jewelry and dinner tables reminiscent of the holiday season provide a feast for the eyes. Next, a giant golden gift box enveloping the entire Shinsegae Square opens, followed by a magnificent fireworks display that is expected to amaze the audience. The video concludes with a message expressing wishes for happiness and wonder throughout the year-end season ("Wonder all the way").
To enhance the visual experience, Shinsegae expanded the size of Shinsegae Square by 61.3 square meters, transforming it into a massive digital signage display with a total area of 1,353.64 square meters-larger than three basketball courts. The video’s music was produced in collaboration with the Czech Philharmonic, with over 60 orchestra members reinterpreting Christmas carols and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, recorded live at Dvorak Hall in the Czech Republic to add grandeur to the show. This year, the anamorphic technique was implemented, adding not only grandeur but also vividness and immersion. Anamorphic is a video technique that uses optical illusions to create a sense of three-dimensionality and realism.
The interior of Shinsegae Department Store will also be decorated with a variety of lights and ornaments. Starting on the 7th, House of Shinsegae at the Gangnam branch will offer a special experience under the theme "Symphony of Light." The entire void wall at House of Shinsegae is covered with LEDs, and four themed shows-"Silent Christmas Night," "Noel’s Water Ballet," "Clock of Light," and the main show "Midnight Finale"-blend light and music like a symphony. At Daejeon Shinsegae Art & Science, an 8-meter-tall giant tree will decorate the first-floor lobby. The tree’s ornaments feature various depictions of Shinsegae’s own character, Poovilla.
Kim Sunjin, Executive Vice President and Head of Sales at Shinsegae Department Store, said, "We have created a special media art and indoor atmosphere with the hope that every moment at Shinsegae will be filled with happiness," adding, "With a production that combines beauty and originality, Shinsegae will establish itself as a must-visit destination for the year-end season."
