This forum has been organized to wish for the successful implementation of economic development projects based on the clean methanol industry and to share Taebaek City's vision for transitioning into a clean energy city.

Approximately 500 participants, including experts, businesspeople, and citizens, are expected to attend. The event will include a ceremony wishing for the success of the economic development project, a progress report on the project, and presentations on strategies for each stage of the Clean Methanol Cluster's implementation.

In the first strategy session, Dr. Kim Kyungnam from the Environmental Research Division of the Gangwon Research Institute will give a presentation on "The Current Status of the Forest Timber Cluster Project and Raw Material Supply Plans for Clean Methanol Production."

In the second session, Jang Bongjae, President of the Korea Clean Methanol Industry Association, will present on "Global Trends and Revitalization Strategies for the Clean Methanol Industry," outlining directions for industry development.

Finally, Shin Deokcheol, Team Leader of the Industrial Regulation Innovation Team at Gangwon Technopark, will explain "Utilizing Institutional Tools and Investment Attraction Support Measures for the Growth of the Clean Methanol Industry," discussing the use of special zone systems and policy recommendations.

A Taebaek City official stated, "This forum will serve as an opportunity to strengthen the policy foundation of the clean methanol industry and expand public consensus. We ask for the active interest and participation of citizens so that Taebaek City can take a leap forward as a sustainable city centered on clean energy."

Meanwhile, the Taebaek City Economic Development Project, which forms the basis for this forum and includes the construction of a clean methanol production facility, has a total project budget of 354 billion won. The project passed the preliminary feasibility study in August, and with 7.4 billion won included in the government's 2026 budget, the project is expected to move forward in earnest.
