Coast Guard Rescues Unconscious Driver
and Transfers Him to Hospital

An SUV fell into the sea near the automobile-only pier at Mokpo New Port in Mokpo, South Jeolla Province, prompting an emergency rescue operation by the Mokpo Coast Guard.
The Mokpo Coast Guard received a report at 5:33 a.m. on the 23rd that a vehicle had plunged into the sea near Mokpo New Port. In response, they immediately dispatched a coastal rescue boat, patrol vessel, and the West Sea Special Rescue Unit.
At 6:57 a.m., the West Sea Special Rescue Unit rescued a male driver in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, who was found unconscious and not breathing. They performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and other emergency measures before handing him over to the 119 emergency medical team.
Mr. A was confirmed to have been transported to a hospital in Mokpo.
Meanwhile, the Coast Guard is investigating the circumstances of the vehicle’s fall into the sea based on accounts from witnesses in the area and footage from closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
