National Library for the Disabled Distributes "Easy-to-Read Books" ... Seeking Interested Institutions

Easy-to-Read Books are designed for people with developmental disabilities and those who have difficulty with literacy. These books use easy-to-understand vocabulary and illustrations, and feature simplified sentence structures and lengths.

The National Library for the Disabled began distributing Easy-to-Read Books in 2022 and has gradually expanded the program. This year, the library plans to distribute 40,000 copies-an increase of 36,000 from last year's 4,000 copies-to metropolitan representative libraries, public libraries, and special schools (classes). The books cover a variety of topics, including mental health, philosophy, travel, and cooking.

Public libraries, special schools (classes), and other institutions interested in acquiring Easy-to-Read Books should submit their utilization plans via the web form within the application period. More details are available in the announcements section on the National Library for the Disabled website.
