Regular Meeting on the 21st Shares Interim Results and Subcommittee Activities
Report on Outcomes of Policy Proposals Reflecting Citizens' Voices
On the afternoon of October 21, the Yangsan City Citizens' Integration Committee held its regular meeting at Yangsan La Fiesta KuuKuu, where it announced the major activities and achievements of the committee's second term.
The regular meeting was attended by over 100 members from each subcommittee, including Chairman Park Wonhyun. During the meeting, the committee shared interim results since the launch of its second term, reported on the outcomes of policy proposal initiatives, and provided an opportunity for each subcommittee to discuss their activities and share their thoughts.
The Yangsan City Citizens' Integration Committee serves as a body for social integration and is considered a large-scale example even on a national level, making the enhancement of operational effectiveness a particularly important factor.
The committee operates through an operational meeting (once a month), five subcommittee meetings (once a month each), and a regular meeting (once a year), resulting in a total of six meetings each month. To date, the committee has held 175 in-person meetings, facilitating active discussions.
These meetings are not merely procedural but function as a real forum for collecting citizens' opinions. Through this process, a total of 317 proposals have been identified, of which 210 have been recommended as policies, and 99 have been adopted and implemented as policy measures.
Notably, the high adoption rate of 50.7% demonstrates the committee's achievements and status. In fact, policy proposals announced at this regular meeting-such as the "Yangsan City Stamp Tour," "Expansion of Crosswalk Stop Line Distances for Pedestrian Safety," and "Promotion of Local Specialty Products"-have received significant positive responses from citizens.
Since October 2024, the second-term committee has continued its activities with a broader age range and a more diverse array of professionals among its members, further enhancing the diversity and expertise of the committee’s composition.
In particular, the second-term members did not confine themselves to the meeting room. To increase the feasibility of their proposals, they actively pursued subcommittee gatherings and on-site activities outside of scheduled meetings. These efforts have been recognized as a crucial foundation for ensuring that citizens' voices are not merely suggestions, but are actually reflected in policy.
Chairman Park Wonhyun stated, "The Citizens' Integration Committee is actively working toward a city where citizens' proposals become policy and where citizens participate in municipal administration," adding, "We will also strive to reduce administrative burdens by leading pre-consultations and coordination through close communication with the executive branch."
Mayor Na Dongyeon commented, "The proposals and insights from the Citizens' Integration Committee serve as a valuable compass, filling in areas that the administration may overlook. I look forward to continued proposals and cooperation for the development of our city."
