The National Assembly’s Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs and Startups Committee decided on October 17 not to summon Chung Yongjin, Chairman of Shinsegae Group, as a witness for the parliamentary audit.
Chung Yongjin, Chairman of Shinsegae Group.
Kim Sungwon, a member of the People Power Party, had initially requested Chairman Chung as a witness for the audit, but withdrew the request, stating that "the reason for the request has been resolved."
Previously, Assemblyman Kim had applied for Chairman Chung to be a witness in order to verify concerns about security, such as consumer information protection, regarding the establishment of a joint venture between Gmarket, a Shinsegae Group affiliate, and Aliexpress of China’s Alibaba Group.
