Steps Toward Safer Streets With Pet Dogs!
Directly Confirming Environmental Improvements Based on Residents’ Feedback and Intensified Patrols in Vulnerable Areas
The Chilgok Police Station in North Gyeongsang Province conducted a nighttime patrol on September 25, focusing on Waegwan Station and the surrounding commercial district, together with members of the Pet Dog Patrol Unit.
This patrol was organized to prevent crime during vulnerable hours and to enhance the public’s sense of safety, as an increase in visitors to commercial areas and railway users was expected ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
The Pet Dog Patrol Unit carefully inspected each of the vulnerable locations they had reported, checking on improvements such as the installation of CCTV safety mirrors and reinforcement of security lights. By sharing how residents’ feedback is actually reflected in public safety policies, the unit members’ sense of pride was strengthened.
Additionally, the Pet Dog Patrol Unit conducted intensive patrols in high-crime areas during nighttime hours, serving as reliable companions to residents returning home.
The Chilgok Police Station stated, “We will continue to expand public safety activities that actively reflect residents’ opinions, further promoting community-based policing and making Chilgok County a safer and more trusted place.”
