Governor Rhee Changyong to Speak at IMF Michel Camdessus Central Banking Lecture Yonhap News Agency

The Bank of Korea announced that Governor Rhee has been invited as a speaker to the Michel Camdessus Central Banking Lecture, which will be held in Washington, D.C., United States, on September 18 (local time), and that he will depart for the United States on September 17.

This lecture is a high-level annual event organized by the IMF since 2014 to strengthen cooperation with central banks of member countries and to discuss monetary policy as well as global economic and financial issues. The event is named after Michel Camdessus, the longest-serving Managing Director in IMF history (January 1987 to February 2000).

Governor Rhee will deliver a lecture on "Korea's Integrated Policy Framework (IPF) Journey: Challenges and Responses in the Era of the Effective Lower Bound (ELB)," followed by a discussion with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.

Previous speakers at the Michel Camdessus Central Banking Lecture include European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, former Bank of England Governor and former Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, former Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen, and former Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda.

Governor Rhee has previously participated as a speaker at the Federal Reserve's Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium (August 2022, panel discussion) and the European Central Bank's Sintra Forum (June 2025, policy panel discussion).
