Ttaenggyeoyo’s In-House Delivery Service Expands Citywide in Seoul

Ttaeng Delivery Service Expands to All Districts in Seoul
Lower Commission Fees, Enhanced Consumer Service Quality

Starting on September 17, Seoul’s public delivery app “Ttaenggyeoyo” will make its in-house delivery service, “Ttaeng Delivery,” available across all districts in Seoul.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on September 16 that, after pilot operating Ttaeng Delivery in parts of Jung-gu and Jongno-gu since July 30 and receiving positive feedback from both participating merchants and consumers, it will expand the service to all districts.

Ttaeng Delivery was introduced to reduce the burden of high delivery fees and commissions charged by private delivery apps, and to provide tangible benefits to both merchants and consumers. The operator, Shinhan Bank, has partnered with the delivery agency Barogo to handle the entire process-from ordering to delivery-through the Ttaenggyeoyo app.

For an order of products worth 25,000 won, Ttaeng Delivery charges a 2% intermediary commission and a 3,300 won delivery fee, bringing the total commission to about 17%. In contrast, private delivery apps charge a combined commission and delivery fee of 27%, with additional advertising costs on top.

Consumers using Ttaeng Delivery benefit from reduced delivery fees, real-time rider location tracking, estimated arrival time notifications, and an average delivery time shortened by about 20 minutes. Merchants can reduce their fixed costs with a 2% intermediary commission and zero advertising fees, and improve operational efficiency through real-time delivery matching and integrated order and payment management.

Ttaenggyeoyo has continued to expand, driven by its low intermediary commission and various discount benefits. As of August this year, the app had 2,119,445 members, a 48.1% increase compared to the same month last year, and the number of participating merchants (50,969 locations) grew by 19.3%. Cumulative sales reached 67.119 billion won, a 2.6-fold increase over the same period.

The city plans to use the expansion of Ttaeng Delivery as an opportunity to accelerate the development of a sustainable public delivery platform. Consumer benefits such as public delivery app activation coupons from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, district-specific delivery-only gift certificates, and payback promotions will also continue to be offered.

Han Jeonghun, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Small Business Policy Division, stated, “Ttaeng Delivery is a win-win model that reduces delivery platform commission burdens for business owners while providing citizens with reasonable prices and reliable services. We will continue to strengthen public-private cooperation to ensure that both business owners and citizens can experience real benefits.”
