Jeonnam Province announced that it will provide 13.3 billion won in recovery funds for agricultural disasters caused by abnormal low temperatures in March and April.

This support is a measure to help stabilize the management of farms that suffered significant damage due to the sudden drop in temperature. The recipients include 5,300 fruit farms (3,500 hectares) and 300 spring cabbage farms (240 hectares).

To ensure a swift recovery for affected farms, the province will allocate recovery funds to each city and county, and compensation will be provided to individual farms. In particular, for Muan County and Shinan County, which were excluded from government support due to having less than 50 hectares of damaged area, the province will use its own budget to provide recovery funds.

Farmers affected by the disaster will receive support such as pesticide costs and living expenses, depending on the scale and severity of the damage. For pesticide costs, 3 million won per hectare will be provided for fruit farms, and 2.5 million won per hectare for vegetable farms. In addition, 289 farms with a damage rate of 50% or higher will receive 1.83 million won in living expenses for a four-person household, interest reduction on agricultural and livestock management stabilization funds, and a two-year repayment deferral.

Yoo Deokgyu, head of the Food and Horticulture Division of Jeonnam Province, stated, "Since the abnormal low temperatures caused extensive damage to farms, we hope that the recovery funds will help stabilize farmers' operations." He also emphasized, "To prepare for frequent disasters caused by abnormal weather, we strongly encourage farmers to enroll in crop disaster insurance, which serves as a minimum safety net."
