Nanossilicon Advanced Materials announced on September 16 that it has secured all three key patents for its new secondary battery anode material business, accelerating preparations for full-scale mass production.

Previously, in May, Nanossilicon Advanced Materials obtained two patents: one for a method of manufacturing a composite of silicon, carbon nanofiber (CNF), and graphene, as well as a method for producing secondary batteries using this composite; and another for a method of manufacturing a composite for lithium secondary battery anodes and a method for producing lithium-ion batteries.

On September 15, the company secured an additional core patent. This patent covers "nitrogen-doped and carbon matrix-encapsulated silicon carbon nanofiber composites, their manufacturing method, and secondary batteries containing them." This patent, originally filed in 2022 by Dr. Lee Changsub and his research team at Nanossilicon Advanced Materials, is now co-owned by Choi Jaegwon, CEO of Silican Co., Ltd., as a joint patent holder. The company explained that this patent is especially significant for the production of triple-fusion composites.

A company representative stated, "By securing this patent, we have established ourselves as a true specialist manufacturer of silicon anode materials for secondary batteries, equipped with core patents, talent, and facilities," adding, "We plan to accelerate our entry into the market with differentiated technology and price competitiveness."
