Yanggu County Completes 'National Land Center Sky Star Experience Center'... Offering Nature and Universe Experiences

A Special Space for Relaxation and Experience Under the Starlight

Yanggu County in Gangwon Province has completed the construction of the 'National Land Center Sky Star Experience Center' and will hold a completion ceremony at 2:00 p.m. on September 16 at 100-3 Dochon-ri, National Land Center-myeon.

The National Land Center Sky Star Experience Center was built with a total project cost of approximately 3 billion won and covers an area of 14,513 square meters. The project involved demolishing and renovating existing park facilities, and newly adding eight auto decks, five glamping units, a parking lot, a performance hall, restrooms, and a cooking area, thereby significantly expanding the infrastructure of the existing astronomical observatory campsite.

The name 'Sky Star Experience Center' reflects the idea of experiencing nature and the universe by gazing at the sky and stars from Yanggu, the geographical center of the country. The center is designed to offer both residents and tourists a unique experience by combining the region's beautiful natural environment with astronomy education.

The county plans to systematically operate the new facility alongside the existing National Land Center Astronomical Observatory Campsite by selecting a management operator and entering into a consignment agreement.

Seo Heungwon, Governor of Yanggu County, stated, "I hope the National Land Center Sky Star Experience Center will become a place of learning and relaxation for everyone who loves nature and the universe," adding, "We will continue to promote various projects that can simultaneously boost local education and tourism."

Meanwhile, the completion ceremony will be attended by Seo Heungwon, Governor of Yanggu County, Jeong Changsu, Chairman of Yanggu County Council, heads of local organizations and institutions, and about 50 residents. The event will include a progress report, presentation of appreciation plaques, commemorative speeches, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and a tour of the facilities.
