Ranked Among the Top Five Cities and Counties Nationwide
Strengthening Its Position as a Leading County in Livestock Environment Improvement
Hapcheon County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on September 16 that it has been finally selected for the 2026 Livestock Odor Improvement Project, promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
With this selection, Hapcheon County has achieved the distinction of being chosen for four consecutive years from 2023 to 2026. The county ranked among the top five out of 57 cities and counties nationwide, establishing itself as a leading local government in the field of livestock environment improvement.
In particular, this selection has secured 2.02 billion won in national funding, giving strong momentum to the implementation of various projects aimed at improving livestock odors.
The Livestock Odor Improvement Project focuses on improving treatment methods for proper disposal of livestock manure, reducing odors in the livestock sector, and promoting resource circulation by linking crop farming and livestock operations. Hapcheon County has made multifaceted efforts, such as supporting odor reduction facilities and equipment, distributing odor prevention agents, providing in-depth consulting, and expanding clean livestock farm certifications. These consistent efforts are credited with achieving the distinction of being selected for four consecutive years.
The county plans to build on these efforts and accelerate its initiatives, aiming to improve residents' living environments and implement eco-friendly livestock policies.
Kim Yuncheol, the county governor, stated, "Being selected for this project for four consecutive years is expected to benefit both livestock farmers and local residents." He added, "We will continue to pursue eco-friendly livestock policies to create a sustainable livestock environment where residents and farmers can thrive together."
