An Artist Gaining Recognition in the Domestic and International Classical Music Scenes
Hyundai Pharm will hold the 182nd ArtM Concert, "Kang Seungmin Cello Recital," at Shinyoung Chamber Hall in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, on September 18.
The ArtM Concert is a monthly classical performance series organized as part of Hyundai Pharm's social contribution activities. By inviting top-tier artists, the series offers the public a unique and special musical experience.
For this ArtM Concert, cellist Kang Seungmin, who is gaining recognition in both the domestic and international classical music scenes, has been selected as the featured performer.
Kang Seungmin began playing the cello at the age of eight and entered the Korea National University of Arts at sixteen as the youngest student ever, demonstrating exceptional talent from an early age. He first gained widespread attention in 2006 when he became the first Korean to win first prize at the Gaspar Cassado International Cello Competition.
He continued to make history as a Korean cellist by winning a special prize at the Rostropovich International Cello Competition in 2009 and placing fifth in the cello division at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2015.
At this ArtM Concert, the program will feature a repertoire that spans both classical and romantic styles, including Joseph Haydn's "Duet for Violin and Cello in D Major" and Reinhold Gliere's "10 Duos for Two Cellos, Op. 53," a favorite among cellists. The audience will be able to experience the cello's deep resonance and diverse charm on stage.
A Hyundai Pharm ArtM Concert representative stated, "Cellist Kang Seungmin is acclaimed as a flawless and impeccable cellist, possessing both outstanding technique and artistry," adding, "This performance will be a special opportunity to experience the charm and emotional depth of the cello."
