Jung Eunbo, Chairman of the Korea Exchange (KRX), departed for the United States on September 14 to attend the opening ceremony of the KRX New York Office and to strengthen cooperation with major U.S. derivatives exchanges, including the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), and Xpansiv, a carbon credit exchange.
Previously, Chairman Jung established a local office in Manhattan, New York, a global financial hub, with the aim of building a permanent communication channel with North American investors and enhancing understanding and accessibility to the Korean capital market.

The KRX New York Office, which will hold its opening ceremony on September 15 (local time), plans to actively engage in marketing and networking activities for the Korean capital market targeting global financial institutions in North America, including institutional investors, securities firms, and index providers.
Chairman Jung stated, "The Korea Exchange New York Office will serve as a bridge connecting the Korean capital market and North American investors in Manhattan, the undisputed center of the global financial market. Through the New York Office, we will provide North American investors with timely information and actively reflect the diverse voices from the field in the domestic market."
The opening ceremony will be attended by key figures from global financial institutions, including Kenneth Bentsen, CEO of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), Henry Fernandez, CEO of Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI), and Fiona Bassett, CEO of FTSE Russell.
With the opening of the New York Office following the launch of the London Office in May this year, the Korea Exchange has now established marketing bases for the Korean capital market in the four major global regions: Singapore, Beijing, London, and New York.
On the following day, September 16, Chairman Jung plans to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Xpansiv, a global carbon credit exchange operator based in the United States, to promote business cooperation related to the establishment of the KRX carbon credit market.
Subsequently, from September 17 to 18, Chairman Jung will visit Chicago, a global hub for derivatives markets, to meet with Lyn Fitzpatrick, President of CME, and Craig Donohue, CEO of CBOE. He will exchange views on current issues in the global derivatives market, including the actively traded virtual asset derivatives in the United States, and discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the derivatives markets of both countries.
