Seven Consecutive Years as a Leading Nighttime Cultural Heritage Program
Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province has been finally selected for the '2026 National Heritage Night Tour' public project, marking its seventh consecutive year as a leading nighttime cultural heritage program since its first selection in 2019.
With this selection, Yangju City will continue to receive support from the National Heritage Administration in 2026, further enhancing its nighttime tourism and experiential content utilizing local cultural heritage. The city also aims to solidify its image as a cultural city where light and tradition coexist, offering enjoyment for both residents and visitors.
This year's "Yangju National Heritage Night Tour" will be held for three days from September 19 to 21, 2025, at the Yangju Gwanna Site, which served as a center of local administration, education, and culture during the Joseon Dynasty.
The event will feature an official performance announcing the revival of the Gwanna Site, integrated performances by four groups showcasing intangible heritage such as Yangju Byeolsandae Nori and Yangju Sonori Gut, a mystery stamp tour titled "Find the Missing Official Seal," nighttime landscape productions including scenic lighting and media fa?ade displays, as well as various hands-on programs such as the Yangju Mokhakdang Civil Service Exam experience.
Hong Miyeong, Director of Culture and Tourism, stated, "Being selected for a national public project for seven consecutive years is a source of pride and achievement for both Yangju citizens and local cultural artists," adding, "We will continue to develop this into a leading festival based on historical and cultural assets such as the Yangju Gwanna Site and Hoeamsa Temple Site, so that both citizens and tourists can enjoy it together."
