Dividend Stock Promotion Also Launched
Discounted Trading Fees Offered
Kakao Pay Securities announced on September 15 that it has become the first in the industry to begin paying out U.S. stock dividends on Saturdays, starting from the 13th.
This follows the company's earlier move on August 15 to initiate "holiday dividend payments" for the first time, further enhancing investment convenience. As a result, Kakao Pay Securities users can now receive dividends seamlessly not only on holidays but also on Saturdays.
Previously, Kakao Pay Securities enabled U.S. stock dividends to be credited to user accounts even on Korean public holidays, thanks to its independently developed IT process. The core of this latest measure is the expansion of the system to Saturdays, allowing users to receive dividends even on weekends.
This is also significant from a technical standpoint. While weekday holidays can be processed by configuring the system as regular business days, Saturdays are classified as weekends when payment networks are halted, requiring the company to build a separate infrastructure from scratch to enable dividend payments.
This change will greatly improve the efficiency of users' cash flow. Previously, dividends generated on Fridays in the U.S. (Saturdays in Korea) were paid out collectively the following Monday, causing delays in fund rotation. Now, users can utilize their funds immediately, even on weekends.
Kakao Pay Securities stated, "Expanding our industry-first holiday dividend payments to include Saturdays is the result of prioritizing user-centric services," adding, "We are committed to providing an uninterrupted investment experience, even on weekends."
Meanwhile, to commemorate the launch of "Saturday dividend payments," Kakao Pay Securities will hold a dividend stock investment promotion starting September 24. During the event period, users investing in dividend stocks will receive discounted trading fees, reducing the burden for dividend stock investors. More details can be found in the "Event Collection" section under the "More" menu in the Securities tab of the Kakao Pay app.
