LG Uplus Supplies 12 FAST Channels to 'Samsung TV Plus' via Its Own Broadcasting System

LG Uplus will provide 12 advertising-based free streaming service (FAST) channels to Samsung TV Plus, the smart TV platform by Samsung Electronics, using its own broadcasting system.

Starting this month, viewers will be able to watch a total of 12 channels, including JTBC, JTBC2, JTBC4, MBN, Korea Economic TV, Yonhap News Economy TV, Maeil Business TV, MTN Money Today Broadcasting, Carrie TV, The Life 2, K Baduk, and Arirang TV, with channels becoming available sequentially.

FAST is a service that allows users to watch media content on smart TVs equipped with open operating systems without subscription fees or viewing charges. Unlike paid broadcasting services such as IPTV, cable TV, or online video services (OTT), viewers can access their desired content with just a smart TV and internet connection, while watching advertisements.

By directly broadcasting FAST channels to both the LG Channel, which is LG Electronics' smart TV platform, and Samsung TV Plus, LG Uplus has been able to expand its reach to a larger audience. Samsung TV Plus currently offers approximately 3,500 channels and 66,000 VOD titles for free in 30 countries worldwide.

LG Uplus has established a distribution system that enables stable content supply by operating FAST channels directly through its own broadcasting system. This system allows for immediate response to real-time errors that may occur while customers are watching, ensuring the best possible viewing experience.

LG Uplus plans to continuously enhance its independent technologies to build operational capabilities that satisfy not only customers but also media companies and advertising agencies that operate channels and advertisements.
