SK Innovation announced on the 15th that members of its affiliates will participate in the "Roadmaker" volunteer activity, creating a map of commercial facilities such as restaurants and shops located near their business sites across the country, until the end of this year.
Members of SK Innovation group will visit various commercial facilities to check accessibility information such as the number of floors, type of entrance doors, and the presence of stairs or ramps, and enter this information into a map app operated by the nonprofit organization "Gyedanbbusyeo Club."
This volunteer activity is being carried out by all employees at SK Innovation's domestic business sites, with the goal of including approximately 1,000 commercial facilities nationwide in the map app for people with limited mobility by the end of the year.
Gyedanbbusyeo Club, which works to promote the rights and interests of people with limited mobility, launched its map app service in 2023. By last year, a total of about 3,000 volunteers had participated, collecting accessibility information for more than 76,000 commercial facilities nationwide and recording it in the map app.
In response, the SK Happiness Foundation selected Gyedanbbusyeo Club as a youth startup support program last year, and its founder, Park Subin, was named one of the "100 Women of the Year 2024" by the BBC in the United Kingdom.
Kim Wookyung, Head of PR at SK Innovation, said, "We are pleased to carry out the Roadmaker volunteer activity to support people with limited mobility so they can enjoy a happier daily life," adding, "SK Innovation group will continue to engage in various social contribution activities for not only people with disabilities but also other neighbors in need of support."
