Marine Corps: "One Marine Dies from Head Gunshot Wound at Daecheong Island Unit in Incheon"

A firearm accident occurred at a Marine Corps unit on Daecheong Island, Ongjin County, Incheon, resulting in the death of a Marine sergeant.

On the 13th, the Marine Corps Command stated, "The Marine involved in the accident suffered bleeding in the forehead area and was in critical condition. Emergency treatment and evacuation were being prepared, but he was ultimately pronounced dead at 9:01 a.m."

The firearm was reportedly discharged accidentally while the Marine was boarding a vehicle to return after completing a maritime mission.

The command added, "We are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident."
