The Gwangju Regional Veterans Affairs Office announced on the 13th that, in celebration of the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day, it will honor independence patriots and their families by organizing a variety of veterans' events that engage all generations.

The first event, "Sharing Our Gratitude Dream," will involve the student council of Gwangju Western District Office of Education. Middle school students will craft acrylic mood lights themselves and present them to the descendants of independence patriots.

The second event, "Cyber Memorial Visit to Independence Patriots' Graves," will allow children from the Gwangju Government Complex daycare center to pay tribute online at the graves of independence patriots. Through a hands-on activity making Taegukgi pinwheels, the children will have an opportunity to naturally learn about the independence movement and the value of patriotism.

In addition, the office plans to personally visit the spouses of surviving independence patriots to offer words of gratitude and support. Together with the Koryoin Village, it will also host a reenactment of the Battle of Bongodong, providing a vivid and shared experience of this historic event.

An official from the Gwangju Regional Veterans Affairs Office stated, "We have prepared these events so that everyone, regardless of generation or nationality, can honor the noble spirit of the independence movement on Liberation Day," adding, "We hope this will serve as an opportunity to instill historical awareness in future generations."
