Yeongam County in South Jeolla Province will reduce the movie ticket price at Yeongam Gichan Cinema in Yeongam-eup to 1,000 won until October 31.

This measure follows Yeongam County's selection for the '2025 National Movie Viewing Promotion Support Project' by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Film Council, through which the county secured 17 million won in national funding.

The ticket price, previously 7,000 won per person per movie, will be discounted by 6,000 won, allowing everyone-regardless of age or gender-to watch the latest movies for just 1,000 won. However, the discount applies only to tickets purchased on-site and may end early if the budget is exhausted.

Kim Jinjoong, head of the Culture and Arts Division, stated, "We hope that residents can enjoy the latest movies at the cinema without financial burden, and we will continue to promote various cultural welfare policies to expand cultural opportunities for local residents."

Yeongam Gichan Cinema has two screening rooms with a total of 98 seats, offering a wide range of films from the latest releases to independent and art films, thereby providing cultural leisure opportunities for county residents. The cinema is also well known as the venue for the 'Eomni Geukjanggasige' program, which helps village elders enjoy cultural outings by utilizing donations from the Hometown Love Fund.
