The Financial Services Commission is expected to hold an extraordinary meeting on the afternoon of August 13 and recommend a candidate for the new Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service.
The Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service is nominated by the Chairman of the Financial Services Commission and appointed by the President. The position has remained vacant for over two months since former Governor Lee Bokhyun stepped down in early June.
Hong Sungkook, former lawmaker of the Democratic Party of Korea, and Sohn Byungdoo, former Chairman of the Korea Exchange, have been mentioned as potential candidates for the new Governor.
