Yeongju City Launches Five-Year Basic Plan for Youth Policy, Strengthening Reflection of Field Voices

Aiming to Improve Youth Independence and Quality of Life
Policy Workshop Held with Over 40 Participants

Yeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province has officially begun the process of establishing its "Basic Plan for Youth Policy," which will set the mid- to long-term direction for local youth policies.

The Basic Plan for Youth Policy is a statutory plan established every five years based on the "Yeongju City Youth Basic Ordinance." Its goal is to improve the quality of life for young people and to provide a stable foundation for their independence.

On August 13, Yeongju City held a policy workshop presided over by Acting Mayor Yoo Jeonggeun, where the progress of the project and major tasks were shared. The workshop was attended by more than 40 participants, including heads of relevant city departments, city council members, members of the Youth Policy Committee and consultative body, representatives from local universities, and Taeheung ENC, the agency conducting the project. They discussed policy directions and implementation strategies.

During the event, a progress report on the project was followed by an open discussion and Q&A session, where youth representatives and experts directly presented issues and ideas. This approach was evaluated as having strengthened the foundation for field-oriented policy design.

Through this project, the city plans to review the current status of local youth, assess the outcomes of existing policies, and identify customized policies for each stage of the life cycle by analyzing the actual conditions of youth and reflecting future needs. In addition, the city intends to strengthen the cooperation system among related organizations, youth, and experts, and to derive and redesign effective policy tasks through a broad process of gathering opinions.

Acting Mayor Yoo Jeonggeun stated, "Youth policy is the first step in shaping the future of our region," adding, "We will do our utmost to recognize young people not just as the target of policies but as agents and partners, and to ensure that their voices are genuinely reflected throughout all policies."
