The meeting was organized to share the service implementation roadmap and promotion strategies, and to seek understanding and cooperation from relevant departments to ensure the continuous operation and development of the smart city in the future.
The meeting was attended by Jeonghwa Lee, the Second Vice Mayor, the Director of Urban Housing Policy, heads of related departments, expert advisory committee members, and officials from Goyang Urban Management Corporation.
The "Hub-type Smart City Development Project" aims to provide smart city services that citizens can experience firsthand by applying advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analytics in various fields, including transportation, safety, administration, and commercial district revitalization.
In particular, the project focuses on building and operating autonomous buses, establishing a data hub, managing crowds and optimizing traffic using AIoT sensors and edge computing, providing smart administrative services that respond to civil complaints using AI, and developing a citizen safety and disaster response platform, among a total of eight core services.
The city plans to address transportation blind spots through data collection and analysis, and to establish a real-time disaster safety system by setting up drone hubs at seven key locations throughout the city so that drones can be rapidly deployed to disaster sites.
Additionally, the city intends to establish an efficient urban management system by conducting urban safety and carbon reduction operation simulations using digital twin technology.
Looking ahead, the city will also enhance the effectiveness and user experience of smart city services through citizen-participatory living labs, and will pursue expansion strategies in connection with exemplary domestic and international cases.
Jeonghwa Lee, the Second Vice Mayor of Goyang Special City, emphasized, "Smart city development is a key project that can help resolve the dilemmas between urban space efficiency and regulatory constraints. We will create a leading model for smart cities that citizens can experience and that will continue to evolve in their daily lives."
