Noise Measurements at Three Locations in Hwaseong
Survey Results to Be Used for 2027 Military Noise Compensation
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on August 13 that it will conduct a 'Suwon Airfield Noise Impact Survey' in three areas within the city from August 18 to 24.
The results of this survey, which is hosted by the Ministry of National Defense, will be used as basic data for designating noise countermeasure areas in accordance with the 'Act on the Prevention of Noise and Compensation for Damage from Military Airfields and Military Shooting Ranges.' The findings will also be used to determine compensation payments for military noise damage in 2027.
The areas to be measured in Hwaseong City are: ▲ Hwaseong Byeongjeom LH Happy Housing Building 103 (Byeongjeom 1-dong), ▲ Gibaedong Administrative Welfare Center (Gibaedong), and ▲ a detached house in Hwanggye-dong (Hwasan-dong), for a total of three locations. The survey will be conducted by measuring continuously for 24 hours at a height of 1.5 meters above ground, and will record the number of aircraft operations and noise levels at each location.
For participation in the survey, such as observing the measurements, inquiries can be made to Samwoo ANC, the company in charge of the noise impact survey, or to the Hwaseong City Military Airport Response Division. The results of the noise impact survey will be finalized and officially announced in December next year.
Yoon Soonseok, head of the Hwaseong City Military Airport Response Division, stated, "This noise impact survey is an important procedure directly related to the living environment of our citizens," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that the noise damage experienced by residents is accurately reflected."
