Ministry of Science and ICT Releases Videos Highlighting 80 Years of Achievements and Contributors in Science and Technology

To mark the 80th anniversary of Liberation, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, and the Korean Academy of Science and Technology have produced and released a variety of video content highlighting the history of South Korea's growth and self-reliance through science and technology since Liberation, as well as the individuals and achievements that have contributed to this journey.

The videos released (or scheduled for release) include a total of seven titles: ▲ "80 Years of Science and Technology," which vividly depicts the development of science and technology in Korea through the themes of survival, self-reliance, expansion, and transformation, featuring major contributors and representative achievements; ▲ "Pillars of Science and Technology" (four episodes), a documentary series on the lives of distinguished contributors to Korea's scientific and technological advancement, such as Kim Yonggwan, Lee Wonchul, Kang Daewon, and Hong Changui; ▲ "Stories of Descendant Scientists of Independence Activists," which calmly presents the spirit of the independence movement, achievements in science and technology, and future visions from the perspective of scientists who are descendants of independence activists; and ▲ "I'm From Science," a talk show where foreigners share their experiences of Korean science and technology in daily life and compare them with their home countries to make science and technology policies and achievements more relatable.

The videos can be viewed on the Ministry of Science and ICT's YouTube channel, Science Friends, and the Korean Academy of Science and Technology's website for distinguished contributors to science and technology.

A representative from the Ministry of Science and ICT stated, "This video series is a meaningful project that looks back on 80 years of scientific and technological progress and shares our vision for the future," adding, "We will continue to produce and promote a wide range of digital content on key policies such as AI and talent development."
