Chungnam Provincial Council Pursues Comprehensive Ordinance Revision for Integrated Culture and Tourism Management

Ordinance Proposed by Park Kiyoung Passes Committee Review
Clarifies Foundation's Role, Fund Management, and Disclosure of Operations

Chungnam Provincial Council Pursues Comprehensive Ordinance Revision for Integrated Culture and Tourism Management Chungnam Provincial Council Member Kiyoung Park

The Chungnam Provincial Council has initiated a comprehensive revision of its ordinance to enhance the synergy effect of the region's culture and tourism industries through integrated policy management in the fields of culture, arts, and tourism.

On July 23, the council announced that the 'Ordinance on the Establishment and Support of the Chungcheongnam-do Culture and Tourism Foundation,' which was proposed by Council Member Kiyoung Park (Gongju 2, People Power Party), passed the review of the Administrative and Cultural Affairs Committee during the 360th extraordinary session.

The ordinance is scheduled to be finally approved at the second plenary session on July 29.

This full revision aims to streamline overlapping provisions that were not in line with the legal framework and to more clearly define the purpose and functions of the Culture and Tourism Foundation.

Through this, the council intends to strengthen the integration and execution of projects related to culture and tourism.

The title of the ordinance will also be changed from the current 'Ordinance on the Establishment and Support of the Chungcheongnam-do Culture and Tourism Foundation' to 'Ordinance on the Establishment and Operation of the Chungnam Culture and Tourism Foundation.'

This measure is intended to align the names of the institution and the ordinance to improve residents' understanding and to further solidify the foundation's cooperation system with cities, counties, and related organizations.

Additionally, the ordinance includes institutional measures to enhance the transparency and stability of the foundation's operations, such as the establishment and management of the foundation's fund and the mandatory disclosure of management information.

Council Member Kiyoung Park stated, "Culture and tourism should not be separated but connected as a single flow," adding, "This will serve as an opportunity to realize practical policies that residents can truly feel, while also strengthening the responsibility and efficiency of public institutions."

If the ordinance passes the plenary session, it will take effect immediately, and the project management system of the Chungnam Culture and Tourism Foundation is expected to be newly reorganized.
