Gwangju Seogu District Recruiting Participants for "Peace Train Program"

Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Liberation
First-Come, First-Served for 270 Participants

Gwangju Seogu District (District Mayor Kim Ikang) will operate a very special train to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation.

On July 23, Seogu announced that it is recruiting participants for the "Kind Seogu Peace Train" program, which allows residents to directly experience and empathize with the historical significance connecting the 5·18 Democratization Movement and the August 15 Liberation.

This train will depart from Gwangju Hyocheon Station and travel to Paju Imjingang Station. Inside the train, participants will be able to enjoy a variety of cultural experiences for all generations, including a musical of remembrance, a peace melody performance, a nostalgic "You Quiz," and a special lecture on unification.

After arriving at Imjingang Station, participants will visit security sites in the Paju Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), such as the Third Tunnel and Dora Observatory, where they will directly witness the reality of division and reflect on the value of peace.

Applications are open from today. A total of 270 Seogu residents or those with ties to Seogu will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. The participation fee is 85,000 won per person, which includes train fare, meals and snacks, and insurance.
