Jangseong County Conducts Comprehensive On-Site Inspections for Heat Waves and Disaster Preparedness

All-out Safety Management at Construction Sites, Welfare Facilities, and Old Houses
Health Packages and Home Visits for Seniors Also Provided

Jangseong County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Kim Hanjong) has launched a comprehensive response to ensure the health and safety of residents in preparation for summer heat waves and heavy rainfall.

The county will conduct on-site inspections of major projects and key issues under the eighth popularly elected administration until July 28. The main focus of these inspections is on the safety management of construction sites and the county’s preparedness for heat waves, strong winds, and heavy rain.

On the first day, July 15, Governor Kim Hanjong visited three locations: the third suspension bridge at Jangseong Lake, the site of the Multonggol Waterfall project in Bukha-myeon, and the park golf course construction site, to inspect safety conditions. The inspections will later be expanded to include the youth center, facilities for people with disabilities, and the public wastewater treatment plant.

Fire prevention measures for old houses are also being implemented in parallel. By September, the county plans to support 80 households by installing automatic fire-extinguishing outlets, fire patches, repairing old electrical wiring, and providing fire prevention education. On July 15, the local welfare task force and the 119 Life Safety Patrol held a joint meeting and pledged to cooperate.

Support for vulnerable groups has also been strengthened. The county is providing home health management services to elderly residents living alone and to patients with cancer or dementia, and is distributing "summer care packages." Health centers and clinics are also offering blood pressure and blood sugar measurements, as well as health consultations.

Governor Kim stated, "The health and safety of our residents is the county’s top priority," adding, "We will focus on responding to heat waves and disasters and alleviating residents’ inconveniences."
