Under the Theme of "Worldly Affairs Are as Fleeting as Gold, Life Is Like a Week's Worth of Rice Wine"
A regular performance of a traditional arts regional brand, organized by the Imsil Pilbong Nongak Preservation Association, which is recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, opened on July 5 at the Daedong Hall of Imsil Pilbong Cultural Village.
According to the county on July 7, this year's performance marks the 30th anniversary of the passing of the late Yang Sunyong, the lead gong player who preserved Pilbonggut. The performance reinterprets his life through a creative play under the themes of "Dancing Yangsangsoe" and "Worldly Affairs Are as Fleeting as Gold, Life Is Like a Week's Worth of Rice Wine." The show will be held every Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Daedong Hall and Sandae Madang of Pilbong Cultural Village until October 18.
The Dancing Yangsangsoe performance has been selected for public funding for 14 consecutive years since 2012, firmly establishing itself as a representative K-Pangut performance in Korea. In particular, it was chosen as an outstanding regional brand regular performance in 2024, and is scheduled to be showcased as an invited performance at the Kim Jeong Cultural Center in Jeju for two days on November 15 and 16.
County Governor Sim Min stated, "When nine hanok experience halls are completed at Imsil Pilbong Cultural Village by the end of this year, it will become a healing multi-cultural space that offers not only performances but also hanok accommodations and traditional cultural experiences. We expect this will serve as an opportunity to widely promote, preserve, and pass on the region's cultural heritage."
