Hongseong County, South Chungcheong Province, announced on June 12 that it has officially launched 'Hongseong Naeil Handon,' a local pork brand certified for low carbon emissions, and has begun full-scale promotional activities.

The county plans to encourage local livestock farms to transition to eco-friendly practices through the launch of the 'Hongseong Naeil Handon' brand, while also aiming to increase farmers' incomes and revitalize the regional economy.

In addition, the process of improving livestock environments to obtain low carbon certification has been proven to effectively reduce odors. The county expects that, based on eco-friendly livestock management standards, manure treatment and livestock facility management will be carried out systematically.

To commemorate the launch of 'Hongseong Naeil Handon,' the county will hold a tasting event on June 14 at the Hongju Eupseong area (or at the Hongju Culture and Sports Center in case of rain), providing consumers with an opportunity to directly experience the taste and value of low-carbon pork and the future of environmentally conscious livestock farming.

The county plans to enhance the competitiveness of the 'Hongseong Naeil Handon' brand by expanding both online and offline distribution networks, promoting supply to public meal services, and strengthening regional marketing in connection with tourism. The goal is to foster the brand as a national model for low-carbon livestock products.

Yoo Seokho, head of the county's Livestock Division, stated, "The low-carbon Handon brand is not just about pork; it represents Hongseong County's commitment to carbon neutrality and sustainable agriculture." He added, "We will continue to systematically manage odor reduction, increase farm incomes, promote regional cooperation, and oversee distribution and consumption, in order to establish a nationwide model for low-carbon livestock product distribution."
