Dong-A University Alumnus Park Sugon, Chairman of Songwoo Industry, Donates 100 Million Won to Development Fund... "Proud of University’s Central Role"

Dong-A University (President Lee Haewoo) announced on the 11th that alumnus Park Sugon, Chairman of Songwoo Industry, has donated 100 million won to the university's development fund.

The donation ceremony, held that morning in the university’s main conference room, was attended by President Lee Haewoo, Chairman Park Sugon, Shin Jungtaek (Chairman of Sewoon Steel and President of the Dong-A University Alumni Association), and members of the university’s executive committee, making it a meaningful occasion.

Chairman Park stated, "Recently, Dong-A University has played a central role in many areas, such as being selected as a Glocal University, and has taken the lead in tackling challenging tasks. As an alumnus, I feel great pride," adding, "I am grateful to the president for leading the university so well, and it is an immense honor to be here with Chairman Shin Jungtaek, who is highly respected in the region." He continued, "I hope that as local businesses and the university grow together, many outstanding talents will be nurtured."

In response, President Lee Haewoo said, "Thanks to the care and support of our alumni, various indicators of the university have improved, and our members are working diligently with a strong sense of duty. We will continue to strengthen our foundation so that Dong-A University remains a source of pride for our alumni and firmly establishes itself as the best university south of the Han River."

Chairman Park Sugon, who graduated from Dong-A University’s Department of Business Administration, founded Songwoo Industry in 1998 and led the company to become a prominent mid-sized enterprise by pioneering the localization of automotive and industrial rubber hoses. In particular, he contributed to enhancing the competitiveness of the automotive parts industry by successfully developing and localizing intercooler hoses?previously dependent on imports?through in-house technology for the first time in Korea.

Chairman Park has also contributed to the development of the regional economy by serving as Vice Chairman of the Gyeongnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Council, Standing Member of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and as the 10th and 11th Chairman of the Yangsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. His continuous investment in research and development and the creation of eco-friendly automated processes earned him the Bronze Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit in 2015.
