Vietnamese President Luong Cuong Invites President Lee to Visit Vietnam
President Lee Jaemyung held his first phone call with Vietnamese President Luong Cuong since taking office, speaking for 25 minutes from 9:30 a.m. on June 12.
On this day, presidential spokesperson Kang Yujeong briefed at the Yongsan presidential office, stating, "President Cuong, who had sent a congratulatory message immediately after the election, also expressed his congratulations during the call, wishing President Lee many achievements during his term."
Kang added, "President Lee noted the remarkable progress made in all areas, including trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges, since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992. He expressed hope for close cooperation to further develop the comprehensive partnership between Korea and Vietnam." According to Kang, President Cuong agreed and said that Vietnam would actively cooperate with Korea, a trusted partner.
The two leaders also agreed to expand strategic cooperation in areas such as high-speed railways and nuclear power. Kang explained, "The two leaders agreed to broaden and deepen bilateral cooperation in strategic areas such as high-speed railways and nuclear power, in line with the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. In particular, President Lee asked for special attention and support to ensure that Korean companies operating in Vietnam can conduct their activities smoothly, and President Cuong responded positively."
Additionally, President Cuong invited President Lee to visit Vietnam. Kang stated, "President Cuong extended an invitation for President Lee to visit Vietnam." She added, "President Lee expressed his hope to visit Vietnam for in-depth discussions on the development of bilateral relations and proposed that senior officials from both countries actively engage with each other on the occasion of APEC."
