Samsung C&T Receives New Construction Technology Certification for Core Vertical Extension Remodeling Technology

Distributes Load Among Piles for Simultaneous Management of All Reinforcement Piles
Enhances Quality and Efficiency for Faster Project Execution

The Construction Division of Samsung C&T Corporation has received certification for a new construction technology that resolves the technical challenge of load sharing in pile foundations for vertical extension remodeling of apartment complexes.

On June 12, Samsung C&T announced that it has succeeded in developing the nation's first "automatic control type wire hanging method" and has received certification for new construction technology (No. 1023) from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The wire hanging method involves reinforcing the building's foundation by installing additional auxiliary piles alongside existing piles and applying pressure.

Until now, it has been difficult to apply a method that simultaneously presses all reinforcement piles in a building using the wire hanging method due to the limitations of manual control. In particular, for vertical extension remodeling, a detailed review of the loads transferred to both the existing piles and the newly installed reinforcement piles is a key factor in ensuring structural safety.

Samsung C&T, in collaboration with the foundation reinforcement specialist company Koryo ENC, jointly developed the automatic pile control technology. Last year, the technology received certification from the Korean Geotechnical Society, and now it has been officially recognized as new construction technology, once again proving its originality and excellence.

The core of this technology is the use of an automatic control device to evenly distribute the load applied to the piles, enabling simultaneous management of all reinforcement piles.

All control processes can be monitored in real time, and users can directly check quantified data on the forces transferred from the structure to the piles.

Applying this technology to vertical extension remodeling projects is expected to ensure high quality, improve work efficiency, increase construction reliability, and significantly shorten the safety review period, thereby enabling faster project execution.

Lee Jongseop, a professor at Korea University who is responsible for technology verification at the Korean Geotechnical Society, stated, "This automatic control type wire hanging method is an outstanding technology that improves the entire pile management system and enhances the reliability of piles. It will become a key technology for solving the technical challenges of vertical extension remodeling."

Park Insook, head of the remodeling team (executive director) at Samsung C&T, said, "The demand for remodeling in urban regeneration is expected to increase gradually. We will continue to secure fundamental technologies that offer safety, quality, and economic feasibility, and lead innovation in the remodeling market."
