Hankook Tire & Technology (hereafter Hankook Tire) announced on June 12 that it will supply original equipment tires for Kia's first electric sedan, the EV4.
Hankook Tire will provide the all-season "iON evo AS" tire from its electric vehicle-exclusive tire brand iON as the original equipment tire for the Kia EV4.
The "iON evo AS" fitted on the EV4 is a product developed with the "iON Innovative Technology" design, which is specialized for electric vehicles. It achieves an optimal balance of core performance features such as excellent energy efficiency, grip, mileage, low noise, and reduced rolling resistance.
The iON evo AS significantly reduces rolling resistance, which greatly affects the driving range of electric vehicles, and delivers ideal energy efficiency. It features the latest EV-exclusive compound that combines eco-friendly materials with high-concentration silica, as well as optimal low-temperature uniform rubber curing technology.
The EV4 boasts the longest driving range among Kia's EV series, and the iON evo AS perfectly supports long-distance driving by reducing battery consumption.
In addition, by adopting the optimal EV compound and "3D Grip Control Sipe" technology, the tire delivers outstanding grip and handling performance on dry roads, wet surfaces, and snowy winter roads, ensuring a stable driving experience throughout all seasons.
In terms of noise, the tire's noise-reducing design provides a comfortable ride at all speeds. Technologies such as "knurling," which narrows the air path in the main grooves (the large longitudinal grooves on the tire surface), and the optimal arrangement of tire blocks, dramatically reduce road noise during driving to create a low-noise environment.
With this supply of original equipment tires, Hankook Tire aims to solidify its position as a key partner in Kia's electrification project. Following the electric SUV models EV9 and EV3, the company is continuously expanding its portfolio to include the sedan-type EV4.
