Duobo is a coffee machine planned and developed by 'LG Labs,' LG Electronics' marketing platform for introducing new idea products and services, designed for customers who want to enjoy coffee tailored to their own preferences.
By extracting two coffee capsules with different tastes and aromas at the same time, Duobo allows users to complement the shortcomings of one capsule with another, delivering a deep and rich coffee flavor. Recognized for its differentiated customer experience, it received an Innovation Award at CES 2024, the world's largest IT and electronics exhibition.
Users can choose from four extraction methods: espresso single, espresso double, lungo single, and lungo double. Notably, through a dedicated app, users can set extraction volume and temperature for each capsule, enabling a variety of blends and the creation of personalized recipes. The app also provides a range of unique recipes developed by professional baristas. If users leave reviews for each recipe, the app analyzes them to recommend recipes that match individual preferences.
Duobo is equipped not only with innovative features but also with a striking design and playful elements. The exterior is inspired by the 'Apollo 11 lunar module.' The extraction unit resembles a spaceship cockpit, the product stand is shaped like a spacecraft's legs, and the rubber feet are designed to look like astronaut footprints. When users press the control panel button on the stand, the lid of the extraction unit opens as if a spaceship is unfolding, allowing coffee capsules to be inserted.
The area where the cup is placed during extraction features a 10.1-inch full HD IPS display. The screen shows an animation of Duobo's exclusive character, 'Qubo,' piloting a spaceship according to different situations such as power connection, coffee extraction, and standby mode, and also provides coffee-related information content, adding to the fun.
Duobo can be purchased through the interior platform 'Ohouse' at a price of 840,000 KRW. Customers who purchase the machine will receive a Duobo-exclusive coffee cup, created in collaboration with the Greek lifestyle brand 'IyaIya&Friends.' LG Electronics plans to expand sales channels in the future.
Lee Hyangeun, Head of HS CX at LG Electronics, said, "With Duobo, a coffee machine that allows users to enjoy the entire process of selecting, making, and drinking coffee according to their own preferences, we will continue to attract more passionate fans among the younger generation who are enthusiastic about new ideas and innovation."
