Ten Young Artists of Cheongchun Eoram Residency
14 Weeks of Creative Activities in Uiseong
Uiseong County in Gyeongbuk is set to fully launch the "Living as a Young Artist in Uiseong" program, a local residency initiative that supports the creative activities of young artists.
Uiseong County in Gyeongbuk will host 10 young artists from Cheongchun Eoram as a base, who will stay in Uiseong for 14 weeks to engage in creative activities.
The county announced on May 14 that it began a 14-week artist residency program, starting with an orientation at the Uiseong County Youth Center on May 9, with the Cheongchun Eoram Youth Complex Cultural Center (located in Geumseong-myeon) serving as the base.
The program features 10 young artists from various fields, including painting, installation art, and Korean traditional music. These artists will stay in Uiseong, create works inspired by the local area, and interact with community residents.
In August, the results of their creative activities will be showcased in an exhibition, accompanied by a community-participatory art workshop, providing local residents with opportunities to experience culture and the arts.
Since 2020, Uiseong County has been exploring ways to revitalize the region by attracting young artists. In 2024, the program was restructured into a residency-based project centered around the Youth Center, establishing a foundation for young people and the local community to grow together.
Kim Jusu, Governor of Uiseong County, stated, "Young artists are bringing new energy to the region and expanding cultural opportunities for residents. We will continue to develop various support measures so that young people can grow together with the community."
