"Let's Ride a Police Helicopter" Gyeongnam Police Offer Children's Day Experience

To celebrate the upcoming Children's Day, the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency held an experience event for preschool children and their parents on May 2 at the lawn square of the Gyeongnam Provincial Government.

The provincial police agency offered children the opportunity to sit in the cockpit of a police helicopter and experience piloting, and answered their questions about the process of becoming a helicopter pilot or mechanic.

They also helped children try on aviation gear such as flight suits, hats, and life vests.

Additionally, about 30 woodcraft and horn craft works organized by the Korea Horn Craft Association were exhibited, and a variety of gifts, including mugs engraved with artists' works, were provided.

Before the experience, children were given a paper model of the police Chamsoori helicopter and were taught about the structure, shape, and principles of flight of helicopters.

Approximately 300 people participated in this event, including children and teachers from daycare centers in Changwon, as well as the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency, Gyeongnam Provincial Government, and the Kimhae Seobu Police Station daycare center.

Commissioner Kim Sunghee said, "We organized this event to allow children to see a police helicopter up close, which they do not usually encounter, and to provide career experience as a pilot or mechanic in order to nurture their dreams and hopes."

Aviation Unit Chief Park Changrae said, "I hope that through this experience, growing children will learn about careers in the aviation field and have an opportunity to discover career paths that suit their characteristics and aptitudes," adding, "We will continue to hold meaningful events like today every year in the future."
