Domestic Sales Up 195%, Exports Plunge 41%
Renault Korea announced on May 2 that it sold 5,252 vehicles in the domestic market in April, marking a 195% increase compared to the same period last year.
In contrast, exports during the same period dropped sharply by 41% to 5,175 units, resulting in a decline in Renault Korea's total global sales (10,427 units) to the 1% range.
Renault Korea's domestic sales performance was driven by the mid-size SUV Grand Koleos, which sold 4,375 units. The coupe-style SUV Arkana recorded 433 units sold last month.
In April, three out of every four Renault Korea vehicles sold in the domestic market were hybrid models. Renault Korea's hybrid models, equipped with a dual-motor parallel hybrid drive system, sold a total of 3,959 units in one month, including 3,858 units of the Grand Koleos Hybrid E-Tech and 101 units of the Arkana Hybrid E-Tech. These hybrid models accounted for 75.4% of Renault Korea's domestic sales in April.
Renault Korea's steady-selling SUV QM6 (385 units), mid-size sedan SM6 (39 units), and commercial vehicle Master Van (20 units) also contributed to the company's domestic sales performance in April.
Renault Korea exported a total of 5,175 vehicles in April, centered on 5,167 units of the Arkana. This represents a 41% decrease compared to the same month last year.
For the Grand Koleos, a pre-shipment volume of eight units, which was allocated in advance to certain export markets ahead of the full-scale export shipments scheduled for May, was included in last month's export figures.
