Citibank Korea Launches Residential Environment Support for Youth

Citibank Korea announced that on April 30, it held a sponsorship agreement ceremony with Good Neighbors for a residential environment support project aimed at improving the living conditions of youth facing difficult housing situations, and delivered a sponsorship fund of 300 million KRW. Including this year’s contribution, Citibank Korea has provided a total of 600 million KRW to support this project since last year.

The project aims not only to refurbish physical spaces, but also to create substantial changes in the daily lives, emotional well-being, and overall growth environments of young people. Last year, the project improved living spaces for families in urgent need of better housing conditions and for aging child welfare facilities, and also provided essential appliances and furniture. For welfare facilities, the focus was on enhancing shared living areas and study spaces where children spend most of their time.

This year, the scope of the project will be expanded to cover a wider range of regions and more diverse families, with greater attention to detail in execution to reflect the needs on the ground and further improve the quality of support. Recruitment and selection of beneficiaries began in the spring, and from the summer, full-scale residential remodeling and provision of daily necessities will be carried out.

In June, Citibank employees will participate in volunteer activities, assembling reading stands and study supply boxes to help children learn in a better environment. Notably, this support project is being implemented in a more effective and sustainable way through collaboration with Good Neighbors, an organization that has long been active in the field of child welfare.

Yoomyungsoon, President of Citibank Korea, said, “Just as changing the environment can change lives, I hope that through this residential environment support project, many young people will be able to dream of a brighter future in better surroundings,” adding, “Citibank will continue to show interest and provide support so that future generations can grow up happily in a healthy environment.”
