Flexible Parking Enforcement in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju to Be Fully Implemented in May Gwangsan District Office in Gwangju.

On the 9th, Gwangsan-gu announced that it will flexibly adjust the operating hours of enforcement CCTVs to revitalize the local economy and improve resident convenience. This measure is intended to alleviate nighttime parking difficulties and support business activities in shopping districts. The operating hours have been set from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and are currently being piloted.

The adjusted operating hours apply to general areas throughout Gwangsan-gu, except for the vicinity of Gwangju Songjeong Station. Children's protection zones will continue to operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. as before. Separately, enforcement will be strengthened in six absolutely prohibited zones: bus stops, fire hydrants, street corners, crosswalks, sidewalks, and children's protection zones in front of elementary school main gates.

Gwangsan-gu plans to officially implement the new policy starting May 1, after collecting resident feedback during a one-month pilot operation in April. In addition, preventive policies such as illegal parking text alert services and promotional banners are being implemented in parallel.

Park Byungkyu, the head of the district, stated, "This measure is a livelihood-focused transportation policy that reflects the voices of residents and merchants," adding, "We hope this will be an opportunity to maintain traffic order while giving a boost to the local economy."
